Rules Of Conduct

Inner Spheres Wars - Rules of General Conduct

The rules of conduct are still being developed and finalized as of January 1, 2008.  Although the below are just a basic start of what is in place for the Inner Sphere Wars Community, it is enough to police the community and have the community aware of what will and will not be tollerated.

Inner Sphere Wars: Rules of Conduct and Policies

The following represents the policies under which players may participate in Inner Sphere Wars.
These polices are in addition to any rules of conduct published by your service provider.
The service provider's rules of conduct will be enforced at all times, please read these policies and adhere to them.
Violation of the rules can result in the permanent lockout of your account from the game.

Offenses:

     -Abusive Behavior
     -Character Names
     -Bug Abuse / Cheating
     -Tournaments and Events
     -Miscellaneous

Penalties:

Anyone found to be in violation of the rules of conduct described in this document, at the sole determination of Inner Sphere Wars,
including any and all Inner Sphere Wars staff members, will be subject to the following:

1. First violation: The player will receive a warning; either within the game or via e-mail, describing his/her alleged breach of policy.
(Exception: In certain circumstances, such as extremely abusive behavior, modifying the software, and so forth, a player will be locked out without warning or notice of any kind at the discretion of the Inner Sphere Wars staff. However, Inner Sphere Wars will follow up with an e-mail explaining why this step was taken.)

2. Second violation: The player will be locked out of Inner Sphere Wars for a period of up to one month, and will be notified via e-mail.

3. Third violation: The player will be locked out of Inner Sphere Wars permanently. If the player has more than one account,
all accounts will be simultaneously subject to the above actions.

Abusive Behavior

Inner Sphere Wars is a social game, and much of the fun and excitement comes from interaction among players.
To a certain extent, it is up to the players to decide what behavior is reasonable and what is unreasonable within the game community.

However, bad language, scrolling, harassment, personal threats, gender/racial bias and other offensive behavior are not permitted.

To report a player who is demonstrating abusive behavior, click on the alert button ("!"). The alert button will NOT page the game staff
to help you. The "!" button is to be used as an alert Inner Sphere Wars staff that the Rules of Conduct have been violated. Improper use
of this notification system may be subject to the penalties below.

Character Names

Obscene or offensive handles will not be tolerated. Players with obscene or offensive character names will be subject to the penalties described below.

The following character combinations, and those which Inner Sphere Wars staff members deem similar enough, are reserved for official use only. Any player observed using any of these combinations, or similar ones, in such a way as might cause confusion to other players, is subject to the penalties below.

-Comstar
-Primus
-Precentor
-Adept
-Helper
-ISW

In addition, Inner Sphere Wars strongly discourages players from deliberately impersonating another player. At the discretion of the observing Inner Sphere Wars staff member.

Bug Abuse & Cheating

Bug abuse disrupts the game and lessens the enjoyment of the game for everyone. Any effort to employ game bugs, Hacked Inner Sphere Wars games files, Code manipulation or monitoring within Inner Sphere Wars, circumvent restrictions on game play, or otherwise use non-game features and programs to your advantage in Inner Sphere Wars is not allowed;
Violators will be subject to the penalties described below.

Using any means to alter the appearance or performance of a “Mech” in battle to either reduce damage received or to increase
the speed of the 'Mech is considered cheating. Discussions on how to cheat carry the same offense as cheating.

Ready/Drop rooms are for use by all players and the only rules enforced there will be the Inner Sphere Wars Rules of Conduct.
If a player wishes to use additional rules s/he may do so, but only at their own risk. The Inner Sphere Wars staff will not enforce player mandated rules.

All bugs should be reported so that Inner Sphere Wars staff can fix them. If you observe someone else abusing a serious bug, please
report it to Inner Sphere Wars by using the "!" button.

Tournaments and Events

During tournaments and events that are sponsored or sanctioned by Inner Sphere Wars, the rules for game play may change in
pre-announced areas of the game. The rules for any such events will be prominently posted on the Inner Sphere Wars message
boards. Any such rules that have been posted by Inner sphere Wars will be considered a part of these Rules of Conduct and a violation
of those rules during the event will result in the penalties below.

Similarly, any disruption of a tournament or event that is sponsored
or sanctioned by Inner Sphere Wars, even if those actions would not normally
be considered disruptive, will be considered game disruption and
will result in the penalties below.

immediately locked out. Multiple accounts for self gain, stat padding or spying on other Inner Sphere Wars players is not allowed;
